Our offices will be open during regular hours on Friday, January 13th from 6:00am till 9:00pm PST and on Saturday the 14th from 7:00am till 3:30pm PST.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day marks the birthday of the late Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. (January 15, 1929 – April 4, 1968) observed annually, the third Monday in January.  King was an advocate for peaceful, nonviolent activism during the civil right movement and protested racial discrimination that was upheld during his time under federal and state law.  Since King’s assassination, he has come to symbolize civil and human rights in the U.S. and abroad, sparking dreams of equality, free speech, and the right to peaceful protest for all.

We are grateful for our clients and wish all carriers safe travels in the New Year.

We will be open during reduced hours on Christmas Eve, Saturday, December 24th from 7:00am to 12:00pm pacific time.  We will be closed the day after Christmas, Monday, December 26th and reopen on Tuesday, December 27th through the 31st on our regular business hours.

Executive Vice President/CEO Mike Campbell will discuss the current state of the CTA.  It will be held at Seau’s The Restaurant located at 1640 Camino Del Rio South in San Diego, CA.  The cost is $35 per person.

Please assist the CTA by bringing a new, unwrapped toy.  They will be presenting donations to Operation Homefront, Sheriff’s Department and Toys for Tots.

The informative meeting will also feature Chairperson Jennifer Secord of Pacific Coast Trucking and Whse., discussing policy and Kingpin activity, “hot Topics” and local issues.  Allied members should bring business cards and product/service brochures for display.  Prospective members are welcome.

Freight Capital and its employees participated in several outreach programs such as the Japan Earthquake Red Cross, MidWest Tornado Relief, Men’s Health Movember, Mid-South Food Drive in Memphis, National Make a Difference Day, 3-Day Walk for Breast Cancer, Toys for Tots, Haiti Earthquake Relief and Soles4Souls.

This year, instead of sending holidays cards that are quickly read and discarded, Freight Capital is donating the money to benefit the St. Christopher Truckers Development and Relief Fund that meets the emergency needs of truck drivers who have fallen on hard times with food, lodging or transportation home. The 501(c)(3), not-for-profit organization is run almost entirely by volunteers who ensure all the money goes to the truckers.

No matter how you celebrate the holidays, the season of giving is here and Freight Capital is happy to have found a way to help truck drivers in need.

Freight Capital will be closed on Friday, November 11 in observance of Veterans Day. As a national federal holiday

In some parts of the world, Veterans Day is known as Armistice Day or Remembrance Day.  Officially, Veterans Day was established on the 11th month, the 11th day and the 11th hour to symbolize the anniversary of the signing of the Armistice that ended World War I.

Please contact Client Services at 1-800-720-4918 until 9pm on Thursday for funding options before the Friday holiday. Advances will be available Sat 7-3:30pm and regular extended hours Mon-Fri 6am-9pm will resume on Monday, November 14.

Why Columbus Day is Observed
Columbus Day is traditionally observed on the second Monday in October, recognizing the arrival of Christopher Columbus to the Americas. Columbus sailed from Europe to the Americas landing in the Bahamas, not on the mainland, on October 12, 1492.  He is often portrayed as the first European to sail to the Americas and the official discoverer of the New World.  He also made three additional voyages and was credited with discovering the South American mainland.  Most notably, Columbus was one of the first officially sanctioned ocean voyagers to conclude the world was round and bigger than everyone at the time thought.

During Truck Driver Appreciation Week, organizations within the trucking and transportation industry take the time to honor professional truck drivers for their hard work and commitment to deliver goods across the country.  Celebrations include safety awards, cookouts, windshield washing crews, video submission contests, gift giving crews, and events that show support for the families of truck drivers.

Perhaps the most widely recognized supporter of the annual DAW is the American Trucking Association (ATA) which celebrates during the week after Labor Day Holiday.  Many organizations choose varying times of the year and ways to celebrate DAW for one of our economy’s most demanding and important jobs.

CTA Meeting Topics

The meeting will discuss upcoming elections for the 2012 Unit Officers and Directors, CSA 2010, CARB Compliance, policy and Kingpin activity, ‘Hot Topics’ and local issues.

Labor Day History

Labor Day serves as a day to recognize the social and economic achievements of American workers.  It was first celebrated as a federal holiday on Monday, September 5th, 1894.  It also symbolizes the end of summer and is welcomed by workers as a day off work between Independence Day and Thanksgiving holidays.
